b. 1842. d. 1919. Nationality: Scottish. VIAF.
Poet, novelist, secretary, and newspaper manager. Pseudonym: “Arthur.” Born to Scottish parents in Northern Ireland, moving to Glasgow with his family in 1845. Member of the Glasgow Ballad Club, and became the president in 1904. Contributed to the *Glasgow Citizen* and *Glasgow Weekly Herald*. Publications include *The Dawsons of Glenara* (1877), *Chronicles of Glenbuckie* (1890), *Kilmallie* (1891).
