*Gentleman’s Magazine*. Author of *Observations on the Present State of the Parochial
and Vagrant Poor* (1773) and *The Poetical Works of John Scott* (1782). Married twice,
Sarah Frogley in 1767 and Maria De Horne on 1 November 1770. Connected with major
literary and political figures including Samuel Johnson, James Beattie, William Jones,
