College, Cambridge, and the Inner Temple. Travelled to Spain and published an account
of his journey as *Las Alforjas* (1853), republished as *The Bridle Roads of Spain*
in 1856. Contributed to *Daily News* (as a correspondent in Crimea during the war)
and *Fraser’s Magazine*. Married Mary Anne Frances Wilmot on 11 September 1860. Settled
