signature: “Dr. Anster.” Born in Charleville, Co. Cork. Studied law at Trinity College,
Dublin. Called to the bar in 1824. Took doctor of laws in 1825. Published a collection
of poems in 1815, but had it suppressed soon after. Translated *Faust*. Poetry volumes
include *Ode to Fancy, with Other Poems* (1815), *Lines on the Death of Her Royal
Highness the Princess Charlotte of Wales* (1818), *Poems with Some Translations from
