Poet and Church of England clergyman. Born in Ballymaguigan, County Derry. Educated
at Trinity College, Dublin. Curate in Berkshire, Sussex, and Hampstead (1845-1861).
Vicar in Westmorland and Cumbria (1861-1872). Rector in Gloucestershire (1872-1895).
Author of several volumes of poetry including *Songs in the Twilight* (1881) and *Diana’s
