Poet and campaigner for women’s rights and social reform. Née Barrett, Born in Newport,
Kentucky, and lived a a child in a remote farm in Vermont, Indiana. Prolific periodical
and newspaper poet. Married Nathaniel Bolt, editor of *Indianapolis Democrat and State
Gazette*, on 15 October 1831. Travelled with Bolton to Geneva, Switzerland, where
he served as U. S. Consul, from 1855 to 1858. After his death in 1858 she married
Judge Addison Reese. Successfully campaigned for women’s property rights in Indiana.
