Poet, biographer, novelist, and teacher. Born in London. Author of *The Life and Times of Madame de Staël* (1853) and *Philip Lancaster* (1854). Friend of Mary Russell Mitford. Apparently, after 1860, gave up a literary career to become a milliner and then to establish a school.
