Major Victorian novelist and poet. Pseudonym: “Currer Bell.” Father, Patrick Brontë,
was curate at Haworth vicarage in Yorkshire. With her sisters published *Poems* (1846)
pseudonymously. Her experiences at the Clergy Daughters’ School and employment as
a governess would later become inspiration for her novel *Jane Eyre* (1847). Married
