Poet and playwright. Born c. 1584-1585 in Leicestershire. Educated at Broadgates Hall,
Oxford, and the the Inner Temple. Mentee of Ben Jonson. Author of *The Knight of the
Burning Pestle* (1607). Married Ursula Isley in 1613. Collaborated with playwright
John Fletcher (1606-1616). Their collective work was produced in a folio titled *Comedies
and Tragedies written by Francis Beaumont and John Fletcher, Gentlemen* (1647). Biographical
