Poet. Surgeon in the Royal Navy. Served as the Assistant surgeon and statuary on the
*Assistance*, a ship that was sent to search for the Franklin Expedition (1850-1851).
Received an Artic Medal for his services. Left the navy in 1852 and opened a private
