Poet. Pseudonym: “J. C. H.” and “J. H.” Alternative signature: “J. C. Howden.” The *Chambers’s Journal* ledger entries for her poems term her “Mrs Howden” and gives the address as Haddington. Some entries also give the address as Maitlandfield, which was a town house in Haddington (NLS Dep 341/371; 341/294).
