Poet, song writer, translator, and hostess. Lived in Duntrane, near Dundee. Known
for her personations, where she “mystified” her friends (such as Francis Jeffrey,
editor of the *Edinburgh Review*) by disguising herself as someone else to play a
joke on them, which she wrote about in *Mystifications* (1859). Biographical information:
