Composer, concert pianist, lecturer, poet, and translator. Born c. 1854. Alternative
signature: “Antonia Kennedy-Laurie Dickson.” First woman to pass the music examination
at Trinity College London. Moved to the United States with her family in 1879. With
her brother, William Kennedy Dickinson, she wrote what was probably the first study
of cinema, *History of the Kinetograph, Kinetoscope, and Kinetophonograph* (1895).
The *Chambers’s Journal* ledger entry for her translation, published on 22 May 1875,
gives her address as Chateau de Verderie, St. Servan, France (NLS Dep 341/368; 341/293);
for her translation published on 15 April 1882, 365 Washington St, Petersburg, Virginia
(NLS Dep 341/369); and for her translation published on 14 January 1899, Hotel Cecil,
