Brown, Thomas (M)

b. 9 January 1778. d. 2 April 1820. Nationality: Scottish.
Philosopher, novelist, and poet. Born in Kirkmabreck, Kirkcudbrightshire. One of the first members of the *Edinburgh Review*. Educated at the University of Edinburgh. Began working as a medical practitioner in 1806, but much preferred literature and philosophy. Became c0-chair of the moral philosophy department at the university in 1810.
