Poet, playwright, children’s author, travel writer, and novelist. Also known as “Anita
Vivanti” and “Anita Vivanti Chartres.” Born in London to a Jewish Italian father and
a German writer mother. Lived in Italy, England, and the United States throughout
her life. Married John Chartres in 1892. Author of several novels and volumes of poetry
in English and Italian including *Lirica* (1890) and *The Devourers* (1910). Biographical
