Poet, civil servant, and professor. Pseudonym: “F. H. D.” Alternative signature: “F. H. Doyle.” Educated at Christ Church, Oxford. Elected a Fellow of All Souls in 1835. Called to the bar on 17 November 1837. Succeeded to the baronetcy on 6 November 1839. Married Sydney Wynn on 12 December 1844. Professor of Poetry at Oxford from 1867 to 1877.
