Genre and landscape painter. Born in Courrières, Pas-de-Calais, France. Studied under Félix de Vigne, Horace Vernet, Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. Received the Order of Léopold of Belgium and the Légion d’Honneur. Member of the Institut de France. Exhibited at the Paris Salon and Exposition Universelle and received several medals for his work. Married married Elodie de Vigne in 1858.
