Portrait painter (especially miniatures), illustrator, and biblical critic. Sister of the artist Louisa Corbaux. Self taught, and earned her living as an artist from 1827. Society of Arts medal winner; honorary member of the Society of British Artists. Invented kalsomine paint (whitewash with zinc oxide). Book illustrations included Moore’s *Pearls of the East* (1837).
