Gouache painter, illustrator, art collector, pastellist, watercolourist, draughtsman, and decorative designer. Born in Boston. Moved to Paris in 1876. Studied under Léon Bonnat. Travelled to Spain (1879). Joined the group of 33, a group of mainstream artists opposed to revolutionaries. Member of the Bande Noire. Awarded Commandeur of the Légion d’Honneur (1927).
