Playwright, poet, and editor. Born in Alresford, Hampshire. Began writing to support herself and her father because of his excessive spending and the debts she was left with after his death. Educated at M. de St Quintin’s school in Chelsea. Contributed to *Lady’s Magazine*. Editor of *Findens’ Tableaux* from 1838-1841. Close friends with Elizabeth Barrett Browning.
