Poet, editor, novelist, and journalist. Born in London. Parliamentary reporter for the *Morning Chronicle* (1789-1821). Editor of *The Courier* (1817-1828) and *John Bull* (1841-1848). Contributed to *Bentley’s Monthly Magazine* and *Blackwood’s Edinburgh Magazine*. Author of the novels *The Premier* (1831) and *Stephen Dugard* (1840).
