Linguist, translator, poet, novelist. Born in Skibbereen, County Cork, to a Catholic family. Moved with her family to Dublin in 1861, and then to Queenstown (Cobh) in 1863. Lived in Italy 1867 to 1877, and then lived in London. Extensive periodical contributor. Author of *Fable and Song in Italy* (1899), *The Flying Dutchman, and Other Poems* (1881).
