Poet and teacher. Born in Forgue, Aberdeenshire. Educated at the University of Aberdeen. Headteacher of Crossroad School, Durris, Kincardineshire (1889-1921). *Chambers’s Journal* ledger entry for MacDonald’s “After Ten Years,” published on 23 December 1899, lists the address as Durris School, by Aberdeen (NLS Dep 341/371).
