of Sydney Dobell. Born in Charlton Kings, Gloucestershire. Wrote about her experiences
while serving as a volunteer nurse with the Voluntary Aid Detachment during World
War I, and also wrote poems about her native Gloucestershire. Author of *Songs and
Sonnets* (1904). Editor of *A Poet’s Return: Some Later Poems of Lady Margaret Sackville*
(1940). Author identified from *Chambers’s Journal* ledger entry for “The Cotswold
Hills,” published on 22 July 1899, which lists the poet as Miss E. Dobell, of The
