Poet and clergyman. Educated at Magdalen Hall, and Hertford College, Oxford. Ordained
a priest in 1873. Senior Chaplain of Edinburgh Cathedral (1876-1887). Author of several
pamphlets and sermons including *A Few Words on Marriage* (1890) and *What ever made
you join the English Church?* (1885). Author information from *Chambers’s Journal*
ledger entry for “The Old Coin’s Teaching,” published on 1 December 1900, which lists
the author as Rev. W. M. Meredith, of The Rectory, Crieff (NLS Dep 341/371). Biographical
