Studied art at the University of Glasgow, then theology at the Hall of the United
Secession Church. Minister at Dunse, Berwickshire, 1841-1879. Author of the unsigned
*Magdalene Nisbet, the Maiden of the Merse: A Tale of Persecution of Charles the Second’s
