Poet, short story writer, novelist, playwright, children’s writer. Born in Oslo to
Scottish parents c. 1827. Contributed to *Windsor Magazine*. Married and moved to
Cornwall where she eventually lived with Jessie Leckie Herbertson, presumably her
sister. *Chambers’s Journal* ledger entry for “Which of Us Twain?,” published on 1
June 1901, lists the address as Ormaston, Almanowell, St. Albans (NLS Dep 341/371).
