Poet. Pseudonyms: “G. P. D.” and “G. P., D.” (presumably indicating his Dundee home). Born in Meigle, and moved to Dundee where he initially worked briefly as a teacher and then as a clerk. Friends with George Gilfillan and Thomas Aird. *Chambers’s Journal* ledger entry for his poem “Ode to the Swallow,” published on 11 August 1883, gives his address as 14 Wellington St, Dundee (NLS Dep 341/369).
