Watts-Dunton, Theodore (M)

Poet and literary critic. Alternative signature: “Theodore Watts.” Added “Dunton” to his name in 1896. Gave up practicing as a solicitor after becoming involved with the Pre-Raphaelites, changing careers to become a literary critic and publishing frequent contributions to *The Athenaeum*. Well connected to major London literary circles, and was close friends with Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Algernon Charles Swinburne. Publications include *The Coming of Love, and Other Poems* (1897).
