Poet, office clerk, commercial traveller. Alternative signature: “L. J. Nicolson.” Termed “The Bard of Thule.” Born in Lerwick, Shetland. After his father’s death, when he was eleven years old, he moved with his family to Dalkeith, Midlothian. Author of *Songs of Thule* (1894).
