Old Machar, Aberdeen. Educated at the University of Aberdeen and Merton and Worcester
Colleges, Oxford. Assistant Professor of Greek at the University of Aberdeen (1881-1887).
Lecturer at the University of Oxford (1889-1894). Returned to Aberdeen in 1894 where
he wrote and edited books. Contributed to *Aberdeen University Review* and *Glasgow
Herald*. *Chambers’s Journal* ledger entry for “Voices,” published on 19 May 1891,
lists the author as W. K. Leask, of Worcester College, Oxford (NLS Dep 341/370). Biographical
