Ran the family household after the death of her parents c. 1897. Nursed typhus patients
in Co. Roscommon, before dying of the disease herself the following year. *Chambers’s
Journal* ledger entries refer to her as Miss M. Furlong, of The Villa, Tallaght, Co.
Dublin (poem published 14 May 1895; NLS Dep 341/370) and of Old Brown [Bawn] Villa,
