in 1858. Married the actress Cecilia Victoria Ranoe on 31 March 1860, then married
(on the continent) her sister in 1874. Editor of *The Glow-Worm* and on the staff
of *Fun*. Became editor of *Punch* in 1880. Also had successful career as comic playwright
