Poet. Pseudonym: “F. T. D.” Born in Devizes, Wiltshire. Educated at St. John’s College, Oxford. Tutored a student and travelled to Egypt and Palestine. Moved to India. Appointed Professor of English Literature at a college in Chinsurah. Entered the Indian Civil Service. Appointed Principal of a college in Rampore Bauleah. Companion and instructor of the Nizam of Hyderabad. Contributed to *The Graphic* and other periodicals in Calcutta. Author of *Under the Pipal* (1873).
