Church of England clergyman, novelist, children’s writer, and poet. Pseudonym: “Cuthbert Bede.” Born in Kidderminster, Worcestershire. Brother, Thomas Waldron Bradley, was a novelist. Educated at University College, Durham. Married Harriet Amelia Hancocks on 7 December 1858. Prolific periodical contributor and author of the successful Verdant Green series of books. Reputed to have designed the first printed Christmas card and to have introduced the first double acrostic to England.
