Poet, editor, and miscellaneous writer. Lifelong friend of Letitia E. Landon (L. E. L.). Travelled to India with elder sister, Laura, after her mother’s death in 1828. Author of *Oriental Scenes* (1830). Edited and wrote for the *Oriental Observer*. Returned to London in 1832 and began to write extensively in fields including history, biography, fiction, and poetry. She later returned to India on her own, where she contributed to local periodicals, and edited a weekly newspaper. Biographical information *ODNB*. (JH, SP)
