Poet and translator. Pseudonym: “Eugenio.” Baptized 4 April 1720. Educated at Jesus College, Cambridge. Married Ann Purrier on 24 July 1755. Employed as a curate in Bramham, Yorkshire, then Croydon, Surrey. Became Rector of Hayes in 1774. Translated from Latin works by Sappho, Anacreon, and Theocritus.
