Manners, Charles Cecil John, Sixth Duke of Rutland (M)

Tory politician and poet. Brother of John Manners, the seventh duke of Rutland. Born
in London. Educated at Trinity College, Cambridge. Used the courtesy title Marquess
of Granby until he became the Duke of Rutland on the death of his father in 1857.
MP for Stamford in 1837-1852. Served as a lord of the bedchamber to Prince Albert
from 1843-1846. Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire (1852-1857) and Leicestershire (1857).
