Moulton, Louise Chandler (F)

b. 10 April 1835. d. 10 August 1908. Nationality: American.
Poet and fiction writer. Contributed to *Atlantic Monthly*, *Godey’s*, *Youth’s Companion*, *New York Tribune*, *Boston Sunday Herald*, and *True Flag*. In August 1855, married William Upham Moulton, the editor of *True Flag*. Through her husband, formed friendships with Ralph Waldo Emerson, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Frequently travelled to England, where she befriended Robert Browning, George Eliot, Thomas Hardy, and others. Poetry volumes include *Swallow Flights* (1877), *In the Garden of Dreams* (1889), and *At the Wind’s Will* (1899). Biographical information: *ANB*. (JS)
