Biographer, governor-general, and poet. Pseudonym: “H.” Eldest son of Alfred Tennyson. Born in Twickenham, Middlesex. Educated at Trinity College, Cambridge. Married Audrey Georgina Florence Boyle on June 25, 1884. Served as his father’s private secretary until 1892. Author of the biography of his father, *Alfred Lord Tennyson: a Memoir by his Son* (1897). Appointed governor of South Australia in 1899. governor-general of Australia (1902-1904).
