Church of England minister. Born in Doncaster, Yorkshire. Educated at St. Catherine’s College, Cambridge. Ordained in 1852. Rector of Londesborough, Yorkshire (1889-1903). Author of several volumes of poetry including *Wood-Notes and Church-Bells* (1873), *Lyrics; Sylvan and Sacred* (1878), *Sungleams: Rondeaux and Sonnets* (1882), *Benedicite, and Other Poems* (1889), and *Lyra Pastoralis: Songs of Nature, Church and Home* (1902).
