Poet and novelist. Pseudonym: “S. A. D. I.” and “Sadie” (her childhood self-appellation). Date of birth 1837 or 1838. Although she was born in London, and seems to have lived there all her life, Williams had a Welsh father and identified herself as partly Welsh. Educated at Queen’s College, Harley Street, London, in early 1850s. Published poems and sketches in Good Words, Sunday Magazine, The Argosy. Publications include the poetry volume, Twilight Hours (1868), and a novel, The Prima Donna 1884), both posthumously published. Biographical information: ODNB. (AC)
