Ohio. Family moved to New Haven, Connecticut, in 1855. Educated at a boarding school
and then the Select Family School in Hanover, New Hampshire. Close friends with Helen
Hunt Jackson, with whom Woolsey worked as a nurse during the Civil War. Author of
the *What Katy Did* series. Poetry volumes include *Verses* (1880), *A Few More Verses*
