Prominent poet, playwright, novelist, short story writer, essayist, and critic. Pseudonyms: “W,” “Mrs Horace Manners,” “Etonensis.” Associated with Pre-Raphaelitism and Decadence. He met Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Edward Burne-Jones, William Morris, and the Pre-Raphaelites during his time at Oxford. Lifelong friends with William Michael Rossetti.
