Lawyer, poet, prolific song writer, novelist, translator, broadcaster. Alternative signature: “Fred. E. Weatherly.” Educated at Brasenose College, Oxford, and Walter Pater was one of his tutors. Married Anna Maria Hardwick on 31 December 1871, and then Miriam Bryan on 2 August 1923. Initially worked as a teacher and then as barrister, and was appointed King’s Counsel in 1925.
