childhood in the Chicago and Boston where his father served as a Unitarian minister.
Educated at Antioch College, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Slade School in
London. Contributor to *Harper’s Weekly*, *Ladies’ Home Journal*, and *St. Nicholas*.
Poetry volumes include *Jingles from Japan and Other Rhymes by Peter Simple* (1891)
