Poet and fiction writer. Alternative signature: “A. D. T. Whitney.” Married Seth D. Whitney in 1843. Began publishing in the 1850s in newspapers. Opposed women’s suffrage. Author of several works for children, including *Mother Goose for Grown Folks* (1859), *Boys at Chequasset* (1862) and *Faith Gartney’s Girlhood* (1863).
