               <l>And our old Irish troubles are over and <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="a">past</rhyme> :</l>
               <l>We have solved the hard problem that proved so be<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="b">wildering</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>And discovered that Ireland’s—a country of <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeHalf" label="b">children</rhyme> !</l>

               <l>Poor innocent babes ! they’ve been sadly mis<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="c">used</rhyme> :</l>
               <l>We’ve indulged them in freedoms we should have re<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="c">fused</rhyme>.</l>
               <l>What could we expect but a train of di<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="d">sasters</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>When we suffered mere children to be their own <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="d">masters</rhyme> ?</l>

               <l>We’ve allowed them to bid and to bargain for <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="e">farms</rhyme> ;</l>
               <l>To vote at elections, and carry fire<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="e">arms</rhyme> ;</l>
               <l>They’ve been suffered and summoned to sit upon <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="f">juries</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>And, of course, they have acted like fools or like <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="f">furies</rhyme>.</l>

               <l>In England we watch o’er the helpless and <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="g">young</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>To take care that their elders shall do them no <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeHalf" label="g">wrong</rhyme> ;</l>
               <l>But a much wider circuit our care must en<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="h">gage</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>When a whole population is found under <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="h">age</rhyme>.</l>

               <l>All our plans must be changed : we must now take in <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="i">hand</rhyme></l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">Every</seg> contract that’s made about labour or <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="i">land</rhyme>.</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">Every</seg> man that’s removed, though with no right to <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="j">stay</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>Must be paid something handsome for going a<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="j">way</rhyme>.</l>

               <l>Then as Ireland has long been a mere rabbit-<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="k">warren</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>And there’s no way to make early marriages <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeEye" label="k">barren</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>We must next, if the good of these minors is <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="l">meant</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>Forbid them to marry without our con<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="l">sent</rhyme>.</l>

               <l>With what Irish ideas your English a<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="n">bettors</rhyme></l>
               <l>Are now making you free by these newly-found <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="n">fetters</rhyme> !</l>
