               <l><hi rendition="#pom_3620_incid_dropCap_1">W</hi><hi rendition="#pom_3620_incid_uppercase">e</hi> asked where the magic came
                  from,</l>
               <l rendition="#pom_3620_incid_indent">That made her so wondrous <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="a">fair</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>As she stood with the sunlight touching</l>
               <l>Her gloss of golden <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="a">hair</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>And her blue eyes looked towards heaven</l>
               <l>As though they could see God <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="a">there</rhyme></l>
               <l>“ Hush !” said the child, “ <seg ana="dvpp:sdRefrain">can’t you hear it</seg>,</l>
               <l>The music that’s every<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="a">where</rhyme> ?”</l>

               <l>God help us ! we could not hear it,</l>
               <l>Our hearts were heavy with <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="b">pain</rhyme> ;</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">We heard</seg> men toiling and wrangling,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">We heard</seg> the whole world com<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="b">plain</rhyme> ;</l>
               <l>And the sound of a mocking laughter</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">We heard</seg> again and a<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="b">gain</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>But we lost all faith in the music :</l>
               <l>We had listened so long in <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="b">vain</rhyme>.</l>

               <l>“ <seg ana="dvpp:sdRefrain">Can’t you hear it</seg> ?” the young child whispered,</l>
               <l>And sadly we answered, “ <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="c">No</rhyme>.</l>
               <l>We might have fancied we <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="d">heard it</rhyme></l>
               <l>In the days of long a<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="c">go</rhyme> ;</l>
               <l>But the music is all a delusion,</l>
               <l>Our reason has told us <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="c">so</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>And you will forget that you <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeIdentical" label="d">heard it</rhyme></l>
               <l>When you know the sound of <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="c">woe</rhyme>.”</l>

               <l>Then one spoke out from among us</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">Who had</seg> nothing left to <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="e">fear</rhyme> ;</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">Who had</seg> given his life for others,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">And</seg> been repaid with a <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="e">sneer</rhyme>.</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora"><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">And</seg> his</seg> face was lit with a glory,</l>
               <l><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora"><seg ana="dvpp:sdAnaphora">And</seg> his</seg> voice was calm and <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="e">clear</rhyme></l>
               <l>As he said, “ I can hear the music</l>
               <l>Which the little children <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="e">hear</rhyme>.”</l>
