               <l>All the rare charm of her nature’s com<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="g">pleteness</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>Hid not the light of her beautiful <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="h">eyes</rhyme>.</l>

               <l>Pity awoke, and with mild inter<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="k">ceding</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>Closed the sweet lips as they sought to say <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="l">No</rhyme>.</l>

               <l>Self all forgotten, she sighed—and dis<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="m">sembled</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>Laid her soft hand with a promise in <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="n">his</rhyme>.</l>

               <l>Bring me no other, child, here as a <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="p">son</rhyme>.”</l>

               <l>Take, dear, in peace what the kind gods have <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="q">sent thee</rhyme>,</l>
               <l>Vex not my spirit with fears and de<rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="r">murs</rhyme>.”</l>

               <l>Barefoot, but happy, if close to his <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="t">side</rhyme> ?</l>

               <l>Does your soul cleave to the soul of your <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="u">lover</rhyme> ? ”</l>
               <l>Then the girl faltered a faintly-breathed “ <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="l">No</rhyme>.”</l>

               <l>Heal his deep wound, or speak peace to his <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeFeminine" label="c1">yearning</rhyme></l>
               <l>Whose life’s hid treasure lies bleeding and <rhyme type="dvpp:rhymeMasculine" label="d1">slain</rhyme>.</l>
